The area planned for the construction of the new hall forms part of the existing depot and public transport museum in Střešovice. The hall will be intended for vehicle storage and for visitor viewing. The second above-ground floor is designated for vehicle exhibitions and is also intended to serve, in the future, as a venue for training sessions and social events. The building is located within a heritage zone, and the architectural design reflects this by respecting the site’s genius loci and integrating discreetly into its surroundings.
The plot allocated for the construction lies on a slope, with a height difference of approximately 4.5 m between the pavement level and the track level on the depot premises. To the west, the site is bordered by the existing boiler-house building connected to the depot halls, as well as a telecommunications exchange container. The northern edge is formed by Na Ořechovce Street, including the pavement and a planted embankment. The eastern side is bordered by the DPP traction substation building, and the southern boundary is defined by the retaining wall of the depot’s track fan.
The northern outline of the proposed hall follows the street line defined by the corner building No. 132, the ramp of the substation building No. 1062, the historic fencing at the north-western corner of the site, and the row of five terraced residential houses between Slunná and Strmá Streets.
The western section of the southern outline follows the retaining wall that defines the tram track fan (the track fan will be modernised in parallel as part of a related construction project).
