SAGASTA has celebrated ten years since its foundation. Managing Director Ji\u0159\u00ed \u010curda spoke to RAILTARGET about the company\u2019s plans for further growth and innovation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We regularly follow the activities of the SAGASTA engineering and design company \u2013 for example, we have reported on its involvement in the ambitious high-speed rail project and its pioneering initiative to use geothermal energy from the tunnel lining of the planned Prague Metro Line D<\/a><\/strong>. At the end of last year, SAGASTA celebrated ten years since its foundation. In an interview, Managing Director Ji\u0159\u00ed \u010curda explained how the company has changed over that time and what it is preparing for the years ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Transport Infrastructure to Energy Projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u010curda described the past year as successful for SAGASTA, as well as the past decade as a whole. \u201cOver the past ten years, we have managed to build a large, multidisciplinary company<\/strong> that is respected in the market. We also have a lot of young, promising and creative employees,\u201d he said. According to him, the company\u2019s investors can also be satisfied with its results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally, the company focused primarily on transport infrastructure. Over time, its portfolio expanded to include projects in building construction, tunnel construction and environmental protection. \u201cWe are now also focusing on energy projects<\/strong> \u2013 this is where I see potential for the future development of our company,\u201d \u010curda added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAGASTA: A Family Atmosphere and the Growth of Young Talent<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What sets SAGASTA apart from other engineering and design firms? According to \u010curda, it is above all the family atmosphere<\/strong> that has been part of the company since its very beginnings. Although the company now employs 220 people, its managing director says it has retained a certain non-corporate character and a friendly working environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interview also touched on recruiting new talent and related activities. \u201cSAGASTA participates in a number of career days for universities and secondary schools, where we look for new employees,\u201d \u010curda said. He also noted that for young people working while studying, the company primarily provides opportunities for further education and professional development in the career paths they choose for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building of the Year and Further Expansion of the SAGASTA Brand<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The company\u2019s achievements are underscored by major awards \u2013 for example, in 2025 it received the Building of the Year award for the PPP project involving the completion of the D4 motorway<\/strong>. According to \u010curda, such recognition is highly significant for the company: \u201cEvery award we receive demonstrates that we have excellent employees who are capable of moving the industry forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company\u2019s gradual expansion is also an important part of its growth. \u201cOver the past ten years, we have managed to expand our network of branches across almost the entire Czech Republic<\/strong>,\u201d \u010curda summarised. The company plans to continue developing, although it does not yet want to comment in detail on specific next steps. At the same time, it does not rule out the possibility of operating abroad, which \u010curda considers an interesting prospect for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical Innovations and New Acquisitions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The future of the company was also discussed in the context of internal innovation. \u201cLike most of the industry, we will also have to learn how to work with AI tools<\/strong>,\u201d \u010curda said. However, he also sees significant potential in technical innovation, particularly in projects involving the use of geothermal energy in transport infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what are the company\u2019s priorities for 2026, according to \u010curda? Above all, maintaining natural growth and further expanding its portfolio. In this context, he mentioned the recent acquisition of a stake in K-GEO<\/a><\/strong>, a company specialising in geotechnical engineering. The SAGASTA Group will therefore continue to actively seek new opportunities, expand its team with additional experts and participate in new projects, with the aim of achieving long-term, stable and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
