Over the past months, SAGASTA s.r.o. has received several prestigious awards for its projects in both transport and public infrastructure. The company achieved success in the capital as well as in the South Bohemian Region, where its work impressed expert juries and the general public alike.
Two Awards for the Prague Railway Node and Success in Radotín
In June 2024, the national competition Czech Transport Construction 2024 announced its results. Among the winning projects was the Feasibility Study of the Prague Railway Node including High-Speed Connections, in which SAGASTA s.r.o. participated as one of the design partners. The project received two awards: the ČKAIT Award for the Designer, presented to Ing. Michal Babič of Mott MacDonald CZ, spol. s r.o., and the Public Award.
Another significant recognition for SAGASTA came from the Building of the Year 2024 competition for the reconstruction of the station building at Praha–Radotín. The expert jury awarded the company the Main Partner Award of EGOE. The design by Ing. arch. Marek Wajser resulted in a new, slightly elevated transparent hall that continues the platform roof in a modern architectural expression and stands as an exemplary work of contemporary public-space architecture. Marka Wajsara je nová, mírně převýšená transparentní hala, která moderním způsobem navazuje na zastřešení nástupišť a představuje kvalitní příklad současné architektury ve veřejném prostoru.
Prestigious Awards for SAGASTA Projects in the South Bohemian Region
In the Heritage Site of the Year 2024 competition, organised by the Association of Historic Towns and Villages of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, the reconstruction of the historic station building in České Budějovice—another project involving SAGASTA—was recognised for its sensitive approach and respect for the building’s historical value.
This success is followed by further major projects in the region, including the planned construction of a new underpass connecting the station building with the adjacent car park, and above all the preparation of the Pětidomí road tunnel. This tunnel will link the eastern and western parts of the city beneath the marshalling yard and, at nearly 400 metres long with two underground junctions, represents a unique engineering structure even on a European scale.
In the biennial PRESTA – Prestigious Building of South Bohemia competition, organised by ČKAIT, the České Budějovice station project won the title in the category Public and Industrial Buildings – Reconstruction. Other SAGASTA projects in the region were also successful: the reconstruction of the bridge in Týn nad Vltavou won the main title in the Transport and Engineering Structures category, while the bridge and footbridge project at the Jordán pond in Tábor received an Honourable Mention.
Recognition for Young Professionals and a Strong Focus on Quality
SAGASTA places great emphasis on nurturing talent and supporting the professional growth of young engineers. A notable individual achievement is the Professor Bechyně Award received by Jozef Kostúrik, a member of the SAGASTA project team. His thesis at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at CTU in Prague, titled “Analysis of the Influence of Actual Dimensions of the Tunnel Secondary Lining on its Structural Behaviour”, was selected as the best of 2024.
SAGASTA Strengthens Its Position in the Czech Construction Sector
These awards confirm that SAGASTA s.r.o. ranks among the leading players in transport infrastructure and high-quality public architecture. With its emphasis on technical precision, sustainable approaches and sensitivity to local context, the company continues to establish itself as a respected partner in both the public and private sectors.
